We have had another super day at Lockerbie! The weather has been beautiful for the third day in a row and we all had a very good sleep last night, with everyone fast asleep by 10. The first activities of the day were blind trail and archery for group 10 and obstacle course and fencing for group 11. After a wonderful lunch (see menus in photos below) and more compliments about the excellent manners of our children, we all set off to the lake for an afternoon of kayaking and canoeing. The children had a ball and got very wet! We had a great time at the disco in the evening. We are very proud of the superb behaviour, good manners and teamwork of the children so far on this trip!

Shadow Art
It was a sunny day today when we went for a walk. So the nursery children were playing with their shadows and we made some shadow art. We noticed if we turn one way facing the sun we can’t see our shadows but when we turned our backs to the sun we could see our shadow. Look at the shapes we are making with our shadows.
Exploration of the senses – Touch
In the nursery the children have been exploring their sense of touch. At our investigation table we have been exploring items in the texture box as well as the texture of some pet items / objects that we use to look after pets in our homes. This week we are exploring our sense of touch further in the gym hall. The children were playing with the parachute again and we were travelling lightly and softly and expressing how the parachute felt as we lay under it e.g. light, soft/hard and gentle. They were working together to keep the parachute flowing. There was lots of laughter especially when the staff had a little go!
Ante Pre-School Parental Talk
This morning the parents were invited to come along to our parental talk where we had the opportunity to discuss recent experiences and upcoming events.
Many thanks to all the parents who came along. We appreciate your continued support. Here is some of the feedback we received. We look forward to working together with you.
Nursery Rhymes and songs is a great start
The children join in rhyme time in the nursery daily. We like to sing familiar rhymes and songs as well as learn new ones. We talk about rhyming words and further develop our understanding of rhyme through games. Singing with the children is an excellent way to develop language and communication skills and also supports children’s self esteem.
