P3/4 Edinburgh Zoo visit

Today P3/4 had a fantastic trip to Edinburgh Zoo. We went to find out more about penguins as we are going to be studying the ‘polar regions’ next term. We discovered that there are King penguins, Gentoo penguins and Rockhopper penguins at the zoo. In the Education Centre, Jo told us all about the different types of penguins and we learned a lot. It was a lovely sunny day and we also enjoyed seeing some of the other animals before it was time to come home.

P7 Science

Primary 7 have been investigating microorganisms in Science. They have been exploring the three main categories of microbe- fungi, bacteria and viruses. The children carried out an experiment to investigate the conditions in which microorganisms, specifically mould, multiply. In groups, the class set up an experiment using bread, strawberries, cheese puffs, and cheese to observe which food item would mould quickest and which would mould the most. The children recorded these observations and concluded that light, heat and moisture help mould to grow. DSCF1208DSCF1201 DSCF1203 DSCF1205
