Primary 6 are learning about mixtures and solutions in science this term. Today we explored ways of separating materials. The children worked in pairs to mix sand and water, then separate these materials by filtration. We also discussed evaporation and mixed salt and water together to create a solution which we then left at the window. Next week we will investigate what has happened to the solution.
The staff and pupils at Carnwath Primary School Nursery Class would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Angus Knox and the Loaningdale School Company for the tremendous amount of funding they gave us. With the money we have purchased new technology equipment to enhance the children’s learning in the Technologies section of Curriculum for Excellence. Our new cameras, ipads and printer will be used to promote ‘Creativity in the Outdoors’ encouraging the children to use technology creatively outside. We will focus on the children using cameras and ipads to creatively photograph and video their outdoor experiences using apps and programmes to enhance the images. We will host an outdoor learning exhibition for parents, carers and the rest of the school to showcase our work later in the school year.
