P3/4 Pirate Ship Building

P3/4 have been outside this afternoon working in teams to create their own pirate ship. Everyone worked well together and ensured they had everything on their checklist in order to meet the success criteria. It was clear to see each pirate ship had its own individual take, they were all fantastic!!

We had to make sure we had: Portholes, Plank, Rigging, Mast, Flag, Sails and ultimately did it look like a ship at the end.

P5/6 African v Indian Dancing

Today the children were investigating and discussing the mood, actions and gestures of both African and Indian dancing.  They were comparing both and created an African dance and Indian dance in their groups. The creativity was fabulous and as always the teamwork was superb.  Very proud!!!

“In Indian dancing it seems to be more feminine and African is more manly.” Kacey

“I thought that the African was really energetic and fun to create.” Ellie May

“African was definitely my favourite because you got to jump about more and make decisions on what moves we wanted to do.” Eve

“I think I liked the African dancing because it was really bouncy.” Kelsey Rikki

“I enjoyed the African more as the moves are weird and silly but fun.” Ruaridh

“I preferred the kind of Bollywood dancing better because I felt it was nice music to dance to.” Taylor

P4/5 Kindness Week

This week we have been focussing on kindness and thinking of ways we can be kind to others. Yesterday the children picked a random act of kindness from a collection of cards and were tasked with completing their act of kindness during the day. In the afternoon we reflected on completing our kind acts and everyone wrote a post-it note of kind things they had done that day. Examples included, helping someone tidy up at lunchtime, inviting a new friend to play with them, pushing in someone’s chair, helping another pupil with their work and so on.

DSCN2842We then decided to make cards for the other classes and members of staff in the school. The children worked in groups to create cards which included pictures and kind messages, then they delivered them round the school!
