Happy Halloween from the Yellow Group!

We have been very busy celebrating Halloween this week. When we were outside we collected sticks to create our own magic wands. We read the story ‘Pumpkin Soup’ and carved our own pumpkin. The children helped to scoop out all the seeds and then went on to pretend to make their very own pumpkin soup, yum! The children are really enjoying dressing up today and are very much looking forward to their special Halloween snacks later.

Nursery Yellow Group – Potions and Broomsticks

This week we have had lots of fun exploring all things Hallowe’en.  We took lots of pots and pans up to the mud kitchen and made some fabulous potions by mixing in leaves and bark.  I’m just glad none of their spells worked or I would’ve been a frog for a long time!  Next some of the children decided to recreate the story ‘Room on the Broom’ that we had been reading by using canes from the garden as broomsticks.  What great imaginations.  Look at how they were investigating with light and dark using our Hallowe’en torches too.

Exploring Halloween in the Yellow Group

The Yellow Group are continuing to show great interest in Halloween. We decided to explore some Halloween stories and the children picked ‘Room On The Broom’. After reading the story, the children wanted to create their own ‘Room On The Broom’ pictures. There has been lots of discussion about Pumpkins so we did some Pumpkin arts and crafts and we will carve our very own Pumpkin next week!

Halloween in the Yellow Group

This week the Yellow group have been talking a lot about Halloween. Yesterday with Mrs Coubrough they used their floor book to brainstorm lots of ideas of things they would like to do in nursery for Halloween. Today we made a start to the list and had a crafty morning with the children all choosing a variety of different things to make. The activities sparked lots of discussion and conversation. The children were also able to recall the information they learned yesterday about bats from using the I-pad for research.

Nursery Yellow Group – Fun with Leaves

Not even the rain and wind can stop us from having fun outside.  This week we have had some fun with leaves.  We were throwing leaves up in the wind and watching them blow away.  That made us think about having kites so we tied scarves on to poles and watched them sway in the wind.  We also got creative and made some animals with the leaves.  Can you spot the hedgehog, bat and a long dragon?
