Our Primary 5 children are entering into a competition organised by Glasgow University to develop young engineers of 2018. More information about this can be found online (google: Glasgow Uni young science engineering competition).
Over the next few weeks the children will be given challenges to make different objects using the Knex. They will learn to work well together in pairs to completed these challenges successfully. The children will enter a class competition and only two children will be selected from this to enter the main competition on the school’s behalf.
Today the children were familiarising themselves with the Knex pieces and how they can use them to make different shapes. We made triangles and made our initials/names from the Knex in different ways. We then went onto make a cube.
Our Primary 4 children, although not entering the competition with Knex, are working with plastic straws. They are completing similar activities and hopefully next year they will have the same Knex opportunity.
Please see the photos to witness the fun they had creating these shapes.
