P4/5 Learning to do The Haka Dance (New Zealand)

As part of our Dance programme the children have been learning dances from around the globe.  Today they were learning The Haka dance which originates from New Zealand.  The children then choreographed their on Haka dance and performed these on stage to the rest of the class.

“It was fun and silly because you do fierce faces and chanting and yelling noises to scare the other tribes.” Holly

“The Haka is when you stomp your feet and slap your knees at the same time and make chanting noises.” Julia

“You stomp your feet to the beat of the chant.” Katie

“It was really fun trying the think about what to do to dance and scare the other tribe at the same time.” Ryan

“I really enjoyed it because you had to shout and scream and be really loud as well as dance.” Paige
