Chicks in the nursery!

Over the past 3 weeks the children in the nursery have been looking after some chicken’s eggs in an incubator. Every day they have had to check the temperature on the thermometer and the humidity on the hygrometer to make sure the conditions were right for the eggs to hatch. The eggs had to be turned 180 degrees very carefully using gentle hands 4-5 times every day. It has been a very exciting wait for the children and on Monday night our first egg hatched! We now have a little fluffy feathered friend in the nursery that the children have called “Cheep”. It was very easy to name her because even before she hatched out of her egg we could hear her very clearly cheep cheeping from inside. We would like to say a huge thank you to Annavale Poultry for giving us the chickens eggs to make this exciting experience possible. The children have learned so much about the life cycle of a chicken and Im sure it will be an experience they talk about and remember for a long time.
