August Return Information

Staff are back in school this week preparing for the return of our children in August.  As we work through our planning and preparation I will share our intentions with you and hope to send out a newsletter before the end of term with as much information in it as I can.  I hope that the information below will help you as you think about buying school uniform and equipment for your child.

Uniform
When the children return we would ask that they wear their school polo shirt and sweatshirt.  It is important that the children have a sense of belonging and a link with the school.  We are aware, however, that things will be different for the children and feel that trousers, leggings or jogging bottoms would be most suitable – black if possible please.  Please do not send your child with jeans.  The children will be outdoors every day at some point and we would ask that they also have suitable outdoor clothing – including rainwear!
Please consider sending your child to school wearing trainers which would be suitable for outdoor exercise but also send a pair of gym shoes for your child to change into when they are indoors; slip on is best since the velcro loses it’s stick eventually.
Children will not be asked to change for PE which will be outdoors whenever possible.

School equipment:
*Your child will be given a pencil case with pencil, rubber, ruler, colouring pencils or pens, glue stick etc so there is no need to provide any of these things.
*Please send your child with a filled water bottle so that they can have a drink during the day. They should only contain plain water. The bottle will be returned each night for washing.
*Your child will have their school bag at their desk with them and P1-3 children will be given a book bag so we would ask that school bags are kept as small as possible so that they don’t become a trip hazard.
*We would ask that children do not bring toys to school in August.  This is something we will review as we move forward.
*Prior to lockdown some children brought handcream with them.  If your wish your child to have handcream they are welcome to bring a tube to keep in their tray but they will not be allowed to share it with friends.

Current P1 children:
If you have a child who is currently in Primary 1 please send their purple book bag and word tubs back to school with them on the first day they return in August because they will be expected to continue to use their purple book bag in Primary 2.  Thank you.

P1 – P7:
If your child has any school books or other equipment we would be grateful if they could return them to us in August.  P7 children can bring back their things when they have their celebration afternoon next week.

Thank you for your help with the things above.
