Exploring the children’s interest on bugs and insects further the children went on a trail through the long grass and we found the bug hotels in the school grounds. Whilst on the walks the children saw lots of small trees, flowers, and bugs and spiders they loved the Scottish thistle.
The children have enjoyed experimenting in the water play using the water wall and loose parts. Whilst on the trail again the children collected leaves to add to the water play.
The children also used the k-nex to make flowers they had seen on our trail making wonderful creations of their own coming up with imaginative smells such as blueberry flowers, watermelon flowers and strawberry smelling flowers.
The children also chose a range of books to add to the area some with interesting facts on insects and bugs. This week we learned that the lady birds eat greenflies and some spiders eat worms and slugs as well and flies.
