P5/6 will be further developing their skills in gymnastics. For the first couple of weeks we have been focusing on relationships between individuals by working in pairs and/or teams to show the difference between matching, mirroring and canon. They did this through create simple sequences with movements and balances.
P5/6 have been learning about Sound in Science. This week we were investigating sound through the air and solids. We made Walkie Talkies to investigate how sound travels through the string from one cup to the other. They will further research the speed of sound and light and sound through water.
As part of our school Talk4Writing Scottish topic P2 and P3/4 have been learning all about the story of Little Charlie in order to support their own imaginative writing. This week the children took part in two afternoons of fun activities to learn the story ‘Little Charlie’. Please see their photographs to appreciate all the hard work the children did and the fun they had participating in a variety of activities.
P4/5 created an experiment to see sound. They learned that sound is vibrations and we call these vibrations ‘sound waves’. Although we cannot see sound we thought we may be able to see the vibrations and so we set up an experiment. We predicted that the sprinkles would vibrate e.g. jump up and down when we played loud noises with the instruments used. We found that drums made the loudest noises and therefore it was easier to see sound when using the drums.

P1 have been learning about different types of energy around us. We discussed the energy different toys and appliances need to make them work, for example, produce heat, light, movement and sound.
