The children in the nursery were enjoying getting messy and learning how to make bird feed with fat and seeds.  We talked about caring for animals in our environment and took our bird feed to the feeders in the school garden.  Some children talked about how they would look after a pet bird and so we will explore this next week in the nursery by looking at how we would look after a pet bird and what birds may be kept as pets.  One of the children would like to make a parrot.

The children in the nursery have been developing their knowledge and understanding of capacity through a variety of activities.  While playing with the water way outside we have been using every day language of measurement to describe and compare the amount of water in the buckets e.g. full, empty and half full.  They were continuing to develop this knowledge when playing in the sand and at snack time.
