Bowling fun in the nursery!

The sun was shining and it was a great day for a competitive game of bowling in the nursery outdoor area. The children picked their own teams making sure there were the same number of children in each so that it was fair. They then made up  their own rules. They decided they would stand with their toes behind a bean bag which was marking a spot to make sure everyone was the same distance away from the skittles. Each child was allowed two shots each for their team and the scores were kept using the numicon shapes and pegs. One peg represented One skittle knocked down. At the end we counted all the pegs to determine the winning team. The children all had great fun cheering on their team mates and a few of them even managed to get a strike!!

Comparing volumes in the water tray.

The nursery children have been using a variety of scoops and containers as units of measure in the water tray. They investigated and compared the volumes of  different sized buckets and bottles by counting how many scoops or containers of water it took to fill them.

Nursery Enterprise topic – Amazing recycled plant pots

In nursery the children have been recycling paper, batteries, ink and bottle tops.  We have had fun building and making things from boxes, bottles and cartons, etc and will continue to do so.

Last month the children made bird feeders and this month their final challenge is to make a recycled plant pot. The children shared some ideas of what they could use to make their plant pot such as tyres, wellies, trainers, bath and bags.  We looked at some more imaginative ideas on the internet too.

Thanks so much for supporting your child with our Enterprise challenges and we look forward to sharing more pictures of plant pots with you.

These are phenomenal!!!!! Well done!
