Primary 7 have been learning about inheritance and genetics in Science. The children have been exploring dominant and recessive genes and differentiating between inherited and non-inherited characteristics. To end the topic the children worked in pairs to create ‘Reebops’ – imaginary creatures made from marshmallows and small pins. Firstly, the children had to look at the characteristics of the Mum and Dad and chose a chromosome from each to create the genes for their baby Reebop. Then they had to work out what the physical appearance of their creature would be using the gene decoder key, before finally creating their creature using the materials provided.
