P4/5 ‘s Tallship Experience

Today the children went on their class trip to The Tallship.  The Tallship was sailing at the same time as the Titanic and is now based in Glasgow as a museum.  The children and adults had a fabulous time exploring the ship and they all had a chance to escavate treasure.  Some items were authentic and some were fakes and the children had to decide which were real.  They then had a wonderful presentation from three retired Navy officers who showed them how Morse Code worked and they had an opportunity to send out an SOS signal themselves.

“It was fun and I really liked the part where we explored the ship.” Kloe

“We had lots of great information about the Morse Code and one of the officers sent one of my messages by morse code for the other officers to work out what message I had sent.” Eve

“My favourite part was the scavenger hunt because you got to look at all of the old things.” Cara

“I loved going on the scavenger hunt because we saw old maps where the ship had travelled many years ago.” Rhuardh

“I liked going up to the steering wheel and moving it pretending I was steering the ship.” Ryan
