Interior Designing with the Nursery and P4/5

Today we had a very special visitor from Helen and Hazel interior designs in Biggar.  The owner Allison Bell came in to show us how to create a mood board and design a room as part of World of Work Week.  This year our focus is expressive arts and we were certainly getting very creative today.  Thank you so much Allison, and I think even the teachers learned a thing or two today.

P4/5 and Nursery – World of Work Visitor

P4/5 and the nursery had a very exciting afternoon today when they were visited by Allison Bell. Allison is an interior designer and owns a shop in Biggar. She came in to tell the children about her job and different projects she has worked on. Allison showed the boys and girls how to make mood boards to use when decorating a room. The children worked in pairs to create their own mood boards to design a bedroom using fabric cuttings, wallpaper designs, paint colour charts and cutting from magazines. The older children worked really well with the nursery boys and girls. Allison then worked with p4/5 to show them how to create perspective drawings to make their rooms seem 3D. The children had a go at drawing their own bedrooms using the skills they had learned. Thank you so much to Allison for coming in today, we had a great afternoon and learned so much!
