House Captains 2016/17

This afternoon each child in the school gathered in their house team and listened eagerly as the Primary 7 pupils wishing to be elected for the role of House Captain each delivered a speech.  Every pupil then had the chance to vote for the candidate who they wanted to win. We are delighted with the efforts of every single candidate who put themselves forward for these roles, they were a credit to themselves and their school. Congratulations to the children pictured below who received the most votes from their house team members. You will be fantastic House Captains and we look forward to your support throughout the school year.

WOW! Walk on Wednesday

The ‘Walk on Wednesday’ (WOW) initiative is aimed at Primary 5 pupils. It is a scheme to help increase their level of physical activity and has valuable links with Health Promoting Schools and ECO Schools. Every Wednesday we record on a chart the children who walked to school or took part in a ‘Park and Stride’ (drive part of the way to school, park the car and the children walk the rest of the way. At Carnwath we have a lot of children who travel by bus to school and we didn’t want them to be disadvantaged, so Mrs Cochrane has very kindly agreed to meet the children off the bus and walk them to school via Murray Terrace, Couthally terrace and in White Craw Court. All of the children taking part in this initiative will be rewarded with small gifts to encourage them to keep it up!  So far this is going very well and everyone is enjoying walking to school!
