P7 Enterprise Drama

P7 were doing Drama this afternoon based on their Enterprise, looking at the ways in which they speak can influence the listener. First, children were in partners and partner A had to think of an object/item which is special to them. They had to talk to partner B about this item/object and make it sound very special. They then looked at the different ways we can say “can I help you?” such as friendly, angrily, confidently, disinterestedly etc and discussed which was best. Children were then split into salespersons and customers and had to circulate the class. Salespersons chose a product and their aim was to sell it to as many customers as possible. Children were super enthusiastic!

P7 Dragon’s Den

P7 had a visit from Richard from BHC this morning. Richard and Mrs Alexander were the “dragons”, with the children trying to persuade them to invest in their business. They were asked questions about their Enterprise “ToyMania” and the plans they had for the company. P7 had been working hard, doing lots of market research to enable them to answer these questions. It was a great, worthwhile experience for the children and they even managed to secure money from Richard, in return for a percentage of their company. Watch this space for more information on ToyMania!

P1/2 Science

This term p1/2 are learning about each of our five senses in Science. So far we have focussed on sight and hearing and last week we discussed different ways that people with sensory problems can communicate. We discussed the use of braille for blind people and practised sign language which helps deaf people communicate.

Here are some pictures of the children working in pairs to sign the letters for their names and some basic phrases:

P7 Holocaust Assembly

P7 children performed their Holocaust Assembly. They have been working really hard to learn about this topic, showing very mature, responsible and respectful attitudes. In particular the children have done lots of cross-curricular learning on Anne Frank. Thank you to all those who came to watch.
