Nursery Open Day – Morning Session 22.02.18

This morning we had an open day allowing parents and carers the opportunity to ‘stay and play’ for a short period of time with their child in the nursery. During this time the children had the chance to show their parent/carer around the nursery and to play with them both indoors and out. The children were also able to show off all of their hard work in their individual folders which they take great pride in. It was a very well attended event and the nursery staff would like to thank all who came along and for their very positive feedback.

“What a great morning with my grandchild, can’t wait to come back! The nursery teachers do a great job. Could give brill feedback all day”

“It’s great to get the opportunity to see what the children get up to and learn about. It’s great to see how much my child has progressed as well”

“Definitely worth coming along and being able to see what my child is doing, gives me ideas on things we can make and do at home. Nice to see her folder and recent learning”

P7 Outdoor Problem Solving

P7 went outdoors for their Problem Solving today, “Mexican Waves”. Children were to position synchronised swimmers in a particular pattern. They made a visual diagram, using chalk and cubes to help them. The sun shining helped them too, of course! They ended their Maths session with some French number games.

P3/4 Numicon and Outdoor Learning

P3/4 have been learning about fractions and division with remainders as part of their work in Numeracy. This week they have used numicon to show different fractions and they have also enjoyed going outdoors to use natural materials to help them work out answers to division problems.

P1/2 Science

This week primary 1/2 were learning about the sense of touch. We discussed what parts of our bodies we use to feel what is around us and how this helps us in our daily life. The children then worked in groups with ‘feely boxes’, they had to use their sense of touch and knowledge of how different objects feel to try and work out what object was in their box. After a short while the children were asked to repeat the activity wearing gloves, which we found out was much harder!
