P7 are loving STEM week so far. We are very glad to say that our bread roll making this morning was successful; everyone thoroughly enjoyed eating them. The children will be writing instructions on how they made them next week. This afternoon they started to look at bridges. Children looked at the factors that engineers must consider to develop a bridge design. They looked at forces, materials, shapes and loads. Children used paper to experiment with forces and K’nex to experiment with shapes. They are looking forward to continuing their learning on bridges in future weeks. Additionally, we watched video clips looking at mechanical toys, air resistance and density and what makes a supersonic car move.
As part of STEM week, we built towers using various materials.
This week, we are focussing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. We will be learning about structures and bridges through Knex. We started exploring basic shapes in structures.
