For the last few weeks, Primary 5/6 have been learning about space and the planets in our solar system.
We have been working hard to create our own paper mache planets and are excited to see our lovely display in the next few days!

Primary 5/6’s new topic is Operation: Outer Space. Last week we learned about the planets and their order from the sun in our solar system. This week, we were using paper mache to create the planets and they will be painted when they’re ready!
We also used the chrome books to research a specific planet and we’re going to use the information we found to create PowerPoint slides!
P5/6 created wonderful artwork today focusing on what they’re really like “Behind the Mask!”
Can you see the resemblance?
As part of our Term 2 maths, we learned about 2D and 3D shape. We had 2 problem solving tasks to complete which included different shapes. In 4 triangles, we had to make as many shapes as we could with just 4 right angled triangles. The children were so inventive with their designs, we had some boats, fish and even a working envelope!
In our Creating Cubes challenge, we had to create a 3×3 cube using 27 small cubes (9 of 3 different colours), where no row or column had 2 of each colour together. We worked super hard in groups to work out a pattern.
This week, Primary 5/6 have been looking at a group of artists called ‘The Scottish Colourists’. We have started our art lessons by looking specifically at Peploe and his still life art. Today, Primary 5/6 had the opportunity to draw a still life picture from their own perspective.
Miss Reid set up a still life table in the middle of the room and the boys and girls all drew only what they could see!
