Lockerbie Manor Day 2

Our day started very well with a delicious breakfast of sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, potato scones, beans and a selection of fresh fruits, yogurts and cereals.  This set us up nicely for our morning of hill walking. Both groups joined together and battled through the wind at the summit to enjoy wonderful views over Scotland and England!  The children were enthusiastic during their walk and everyone put in 100% effort.

We were ready for a hearty lunch of sausage rolls, quiche or chicken and mushroom pie with a choice of vegetable or carrot soup, petit pain, salad and a selection of fruit.  After lunch Gp 15 conquered the climbing wall – yet again making us proud as every child took part! Some conquered fears, some smashed personal targets and all of them had great fun!  Meanwhile Gp 16 were on the Obstacle Course. This was a great activity, packed full of fun, mud, challenge, mud, laughs and more mud! Everyone worked well together to get their team over the obstacles and through the mud and they all had a ball!   Next, both groups came together again before dinner for some Wide Games fun. They played circle games, tig games and it was another great chance for the whole class to join together to have fun.

Dinner was a choice of lasagne /veg lasagne and garlic bread or fish and chips followed by a chocolate éclair.   The last activity of the day was Rifles for Gp 16 and Low Ropes for Gp 15. Both groups were highlighted by instructors as being excellent at listening and team work.

Recycled Boats Challenge

We had a challenge to design and make a boat that would float holding at least twelve marbles.  The feedback from the children was very positive as they shared stories about how they made their boats and who helped them make them at home.  They used a variety of materials.  This was following their learning about the importance of recycling and the harm certain materials have on our environment if we do not recycle them properly.

Thank you so much again for all the support you gave the children to make these wonderful boats!!

P5/6 Choreograph a Contemporary Dance

The children were learning all about contemporary dance today.  We watched a video and had a discussion about the style of dance and some of the children recognised that contemporary dance tells a story which they all had different interpretations about.

In the gym hall they created their own contemporary dance with a little support.  They were very creative and worked wonderfully in their groups and then they performed them to the class.
