P7 visit from The Apple Pie

P7 were very lucky today as they received a visit from a local business owner. Audrey Dick from The Apple Pie in Carnwath came in to chat to the children about running a business, helping them with their Enterprise which they are in the process of setting up. Audrey spoke to the children about the drive and determination it takes to be a business owner, the steps she took to get there and told them to never give up on their dreams. She also spoke about stock rotation, customer demand, profit and loss and much more. It was very interesting and gave the children a good insight to business life. To finish off Audrey had brought cupcakes from the bakery for the children to decorate which was great fun. It was an excellent morning and the children learned so much. Thank you so much to Audrey for taking time out of her busy day to speak to us.

P3/4 Scottish Artwork

Primary 3/4 have been learning about some Scottish artists which inspired them to create their own designs in the artists’ styles.  They discussed the differences between Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Steven Brown’s artwork.

“I really enjoyed the art we have been doing as I’m getting better at my art. Steven Brown uses lots of bright colours in his art.” Abbie

“I really liked the Steven Brown art because I love art and I feel I got better at it as I did it.  Charles Rennie Mackintosh uses only a little amount of colours like blues, purples and greens.” Catherine

“Charles Rennie MacKintosh does a lot of flowers and lines.” Dylan

“Steven Brown draws giraffes and highland cows and does a lot of designs on them.” Zak

“i liked doing both the Scottish artists work because I like to art and I learned how to do something different.” Grace

“Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired me to do lots of his art.” Jack

RSPB Big Schools Birdwatch

big-schools-birdwarch-2019-rspb

Just a reminder that the RSPB Big Schools Birdwatch is this week.  Anyone who can spare an hour to look for birds in their garden would be greatly appreciated.  As we all know Winter can be a challenging time for our garden birds and this is a good way to help assess their numbers.  All completed survey sheet can be handed in to either Mrs Cochrane or Mrs Coubrough.

Thanks from
